CITY OF FORT PIERRE

High water releases from the Oahe Dam makes it imperative that people who live on or near the Missouri River be watchful and take precautionary actions.

Those who have residences near the Missouri River and that may be in danger of water getting into the basements are advised by the Corps of Engineers to remove valuables that may be damaged by water. Mayor Sam Tidball said “In Fort Pierre we have some streets and storm sewers that may be flooded. We can’t do anything about the amount of water being discharged so preventative actions are important for protection of property.”

Anyone having questions about elevations and concerns about potential flooding or particular needs call Brad Lawrence, Public Works Director at 223-7690
